Each year the Young Lawyers Division, Attorney General’s Office and Georgia Food Bank Association team up for the Georgia Legal Food Frenzy. The regional fundraiser challenges Georgia lawyers and firms to a friendly competition to see who can raise the most food and monetary contributions for the regional food bank. The drive takes place shortly before summer when food bank donations slow but the need is high as families in need cannot depend on the school for providing meals. “The Legal Food Frenzy is a great opportunity for Georgia lawyers to challenge each other outside the courtroom for a noble cause – reducing hunger in Georgia,” Sam Owens, Attorney General.
This year 20 firms from Hall and Forsyth County contributed to provide almost $11,000 and over 2,221 pounds of food to provide assistance to those in need in the Georgia Mountain Food Bank region. This will go a long way in helping the children in our region who are home for the summer with no access to breakfast and lunch. Smith Gilliam Williams and Miles was given the Georgia Legal Food Frenzy Champion’s Bowl as appreciation for their contribution. For more about the event visit Gamountainfoodbank.org/legal-food-frenzy
