1928: Mr. R. Wilson Smith Jr., son of the then Clerk of Superior Court “Bob Smith” opened a law office in the Jackson Building in downtown Gainesville, Georgia, thus founding the law firm which is now Smith, Gilliam, Williams & Miles, P.A.
1941-1946: Mr. R. Wilson Smith interrupted his practice for a 5-year tour of duty during World War II for service in the War Department in Washington D.C.

1974: Steven P. Gilliam Joins the Firm

Steven P. Gilliam negotiated the contract with the Atlanta Committee for The Olympic Games to bring the 1996 Olympics to Hall County as Vice Chair and General Counsel for Gainesville Hall “96.”
